2013 in Review

2013 was a year of growth for Los Angeles Community Garden Council!

Highlights of the year are:

  • Opened five new community gardens in LA County

  • Partnered with 31 community gardens to help with the business side of gardening

  • Initiated a bi-weekly gardening program at the Pitchess Detention Center

  • Exceeded our fundraising goal for the Autumnal Equinox Event

  • Held a Gathering of Community Gardens with 12 hands-on workshops

  • Offered gardening and community organizing services upon request

  • Visited over 30 potential sites for new community gardens

Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers and supporters who have helped us accomplish so much.  We look forward to continuing to work with you to meet the escalating demand for gardening space in 2014!  In January alone, we will:

  • Break ground on the Seeds of Carver Community Garden

  • Organize a volunteer garden club for the new 120th Street Community Garden

  • Hold community meetings to determine the design of our East Hollywood Garden Achievement Center

As you make plans and resolutions for the new year, we encourage you to consider making a final donation in 2013 to support Los Angeles Community Garden Council programs. You can give online at www.lagardencouncil.org. Until 11:59 pm tonight, your gift will be matched dollar-to-dollar by a generous anonymous donor.
