Water Conservation Workshops
The Los Angeles Community Garden Council is excited to announce that the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has sponsored this year’s round of Water Conservation Workshops, and we have the opportunity to visit all 45 community gardens in in the City of Los Angeles! The workshops will feature an explanation of your water bill, suggestions for planting and choosing edible species that are drought-resistant, and working together to reduce usage. Also, gardens can choose a hands-on activity, such as making water saving OLLAS (shown on the right), making fun garden signs, or learning the beat places to incorporate berms and swales to help move and capture water where you need it most. Gardens with Spanish speakers are encouraged to also schedule a Spanish workshop. We even have a workshop for kids to get involved!
The calendar to schedule your workshop is still open. Contact our workshop leader, Monica Curiel, to schedule the best time for your gardeners.
This is a great chance to share new ideas and strategies to save water at all our gardens. Don’t wait to hear from Monica! Call or email to get on the calendar now.
