Hi Monica,
Please contact Nery Reyes directly at the contact information above to be added to the waiting list. Let me know if you have a hard time contacting Nery.
This community garden isn’t open to anyone new, just thought I’d let everyone know! When I offered to volunteer with them, just to help anyone’s plot and get my hands dirty, I was blown off–pretty sad, as I’m at the end of the block .. so instead I volunteer with a school garden in Pasadena!
Well, they’ve got no hours/etc posted at all, and always seem to be locked (I live on this block). When after a year, I finally saw someone inside, I asked for information. This took some effort, as people actually looked away when I smiled and waved.. but it’s a LOVELY garden, and I’ve SO wanted to find out information! So.. I just walked right in and introduced myself to Nery Understandably, there is a waiting list for a plot (over 20 people, I was told, but never saw or was offered to be on the list..). I then offered to just come in and volunteer, digging, pulling weeds, anything they wanted whenever they wanted. I was given a time/day, and rearranged my schedule around it. When I showed, the man I’d spoken to wasn’t there, and noone in the garden would even open the doors to talk to me, making me shout through the locked gate for several minutes before even being told he wasn’t there.. when I wrote about this on yelp, I was told a similar story by someone else on the block! I was pretty bummed, but as I said before, I’ve been volunteering with Mudd Baron at schools, which is just as dirty/lovely as anywhere else!

Hi Miss Didi! How did you get ‘blown off” ? Do they have a waiting list for people who are interested in gardening? This is interesting…
